- Abstract

Standing above ground biomass (AGB) for the Alice Mulga SuperSite Core 1 hectare plot was calculated based on measurements taken in 2014. Measurements included the D20 Diameter of base 20 cm above ground level) and height. Allometry for estimates of AGB (kg) were based on: Paul et al. (2015) Testing the generality of total above-ground biomass allometry across plant functional types at the continental scale. Glob Chang Biol. doi: 10.1111/gcb.13201. [Epub ahead of print]. and Navar et al. 2013. Regional aboveground biomass equations for North American arid and semi-arid forests. Journal of Arid Environments 97, 127-135.

Direct measure of stems
Basal diameter measures of stems (20 cm above ground level) and tree height were recorded in 2014 and reported in the dataset Vascular Plant Data, Direct Measure of Stems, Alice Mulga SuperSite, Core 1 ha, 2014
Method Step 2- Description

Biomass Calculation
Biomass was calculated using two allometric equations. Allometry for estimates of AGB (kg) were based on: Paul et al. Testing the generality of total above-ground biomass allometry across plant functional types at the continental scale. (Submitted) and Navar et al. 2013. Regional aboveground biomass equations for North American arid and semi-arid forests. Journal of Arid Environments 97, 127-135.
