- Abstract
-
Acoustic sensors provide an effective means for monitoring biodiversity at large spatial and temporal scales. The Australian SuperSite Network (SuperSites) provides the research community with national scale acoustic sensor data collected at each SuperSite. Acoustic sensors are configured to record for 12 hours per day (6 hours around dawn and 6 hours around dusk).
This data package contains acoustic sensor data recorded at the TERN Alice Mulga SuperSite at the Mulga site in the vicinity of the core 1 ha and the Ti Tree East site. Data is in WAV format recorded at 22,050 Hz in stereo.
Recordings are available for listening and download at http://bioacoustics.supersites.net.au/

Acoustic Sampling at the Mulga site and Ti Tree East site, Alice Mulga SuperSite
Wildlife Acoustics Songmeter SM2 acoustic sensors were configured to record continuously at 22,050 Hz in WAV format. Sensors were powered using external solar power and 12v deep cycle batteries. The acoustic sensor is configured to record for 12 hours per day (6 hours around dawn and 6 hours around dusk). The acoustic sensor adjusts itself to record at the correct time (relative to sunset and sunrise) throughout the year using the GPS coordinates of the site.
